D.A.R. (Delayed Album Review)
I forget where we were (2014)

Ben Howard smiles with a melancholic symmetry behind his guitar. He splits the music, rebuild the unseen, with a tender taste for the acoustic arrangements.

I press play and The end of the affair sounds like a bottomless whisper, and endless sadness with the clean face of a song, stabbing my heart but making me feel strong at the same time. Out of nowhere Howard creates a whole different world of sounds and feelings, something unique, humble, frantic but quietly, epidermic and erotical.
Now the rain is starting to fall all over the empty cities, over the empty men and women, cleaning up the mess, our mess, the rain changes us. Ben Howard knows how to make some beautiful music from that, he knows the business ok. Like some Edward Hopper's painting, his music is an empty mirror looking into us.
